Earlier this year, bakers and butchers were earning their crust as part of the annual search to find the premier Scotch Pie. The World Championship Scotch Pie Award is not only a competition to find the best Scotch Pie; awards are also given to a number of different pies and savouries. Open to registered food businesses, each company is permitted one entry into the award for Scotch Pie, Sausage Roll, Bridie, Macaroni, and Apple Pie categories, and up to five savoury products. Products are anonymously judged by a panel of expert, independent judges and a Broze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond Award is presented in each category.
Launched by our very own Alan Stuart in 1999, the competition continues to go from strength to strength and we are already looking forward to the next awards. For now though, we will have to settle with our Diamond Award Winning Sausage Roll, our Bronze Award Winning Steak & Gravy Pie, and thoughts of how we are going to knock this year’s winner (The Little Bakery of Dumfries) off the top spot by winning the now iconic World Championship Scotch Pie Trophy in the next competition.
